Alcove’s Methodologies & Models
Modal Analysis Methodologies
To carry out modal analyses, it is important to accurately model stiffness, mass, damping and mass distribution to reflect the structure’s modal behaviour. Our experience in experimental modal analysis and vibration testing of components help us understand the behaviour of joints, contact conditions and other behaviour to model behaviour of structures. Analyses of mode shapes and natural frequencies are carried out and subjected to quality checks to ensure correctness of modelling.
If the structure experiences excitation at or near the resonance frequencies, the amplitude of vibration during oscillation or rotation can be large and can pose danger to the product life and to people in the vicinity of the structure. In such cases, vibration Modal Analyses are conducted and suggestions are usually made to change the structure’s stiffness, mass or damping to:
- Control the amplitude during resonance to a minimum, or
- Shift the region of resonance to outside the region of intended use / excitation of the product
Process Planning at Alcove
We follow below steps to plan the process;
- Creation of 2D and 3D CAD data of the parts & assembly. Rationalizing tolerance and tooling requirements.
- Analyzing the manufacturing process and preparing process routing, plant layout.
- Creating and optimizing tool paths and generating CNC machine programs.
- Preparing detailed process plan by employing computer-aided process tools such as Pro/Engineer and CATIA. Optimizing by manual planning to enable customers to take informed decisions.
- Analysis of manufacturing process, estimation of manufacturing cost and time data.
- Preparing quality plans and checklists.
- The variant approach retrieves the existing plan for a part, and makes changes to the plan for the newly-designed part.
- The generative approach develops a process plan at the early design stage evaluating manufacturability and developing new manufacturing design plans.
- Alcove provides Manufacturing Support and Process Planning for different industries.
- Manufacturing process planning software used at Alcove include Pro/Engineer and CATIA
At Alcove, we follow both the variant and generative CAPP
The value engineering process at Alcove
The value engineering team at Alcove follows these basic steps for every project;
Information gathering: involves collecting functionality, specifications and business requirements and the objectives deliverables from the project team.
Alternative generation (Creation): Assess various alternative ways of meeting requirements and doing the solution options and conducting client discussions to determine the alternative solutions .
Evaluation: In this stage all the alternatives are assessed by evaluating how well they meet the required functions and how much will the cost savings be and efficient and effective is the solution .
Presentation: In this stage, the best alternative will be chosen and presented to the client for final decision and signed off.
Development & Delivery: The solution is delivered as per the agreed plans and specifications.
Pricing Models
Project based: Quote will be given based on the type of project, duration, kind of expertise required, etc. This option will be beneficial for clients who are having limited number of projects with diverse type of projects.
Hourly based: Rates will be based on the hours consumed for the project. Rate per hour will be quoted based on the expertise required for the project. Hours calculated will be the time estimated for an expert to complete the project.
Man month based: One or more of Alcove’s experts in the particular field will be dedicated to the customer; though will be working from our premises. Customer can directly assign projects, check statuses and establish dead lines. Payment to Alcove will be fixed amount per month based on the field of work. This option will be beneficial for clients having continuous projects of similar kind for longer periods.
Retainership basis: One or more of Alcove’s experts in the particular field will be dedicated for the customer; though will be working from our premises. Customer can directly assign projects and dead lines as and when projects are available. Payment to Alcove will be a fixed amount per month and a variable pay based on the hourly rate and the number of hours worked for the client in a month. Beneficial for clients having different short term projects in the same field.
On site: Our professional or a team of professionals shall be assigned to client's premises for completing projects. Billing rate will be based on the field of work, length of project, client location, and other criterions. Beneficial for clients with design developing projects where frequent interaction and personal meetings are unavoidable.
